Welcome to the official website of John S. Williams for the South Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees. I was proud to serve as your elected trustee in this office for over 18 years before my retirement in 2010. During the past few months, community members have urged me to come out of retirement and serve as your trustee once again.

I was previously elected to this college board by voters like you in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008.

During my tenure on this Board of Trustees, I served as President and Vice President of the board, including serving as president for one year following the County of Orange bankruptcy in December, 1994. During this time of crisis, the district experienced a phenomenal growth in the student population and we met that challenge with plentiful course offerings and significant improvements for our students.

My accomplishments with the Board have included:
  • NO new property tax increases!
  • Support for construction of the Health Sciences Building at Saddleback College
  • Support for construction of the Performing Arts Center at Irvine Valley College
  • Supported the District Technology Initiative funding of 1998, including installation of fiber optic networking at both colleges and the foundation for campus-wide wireless internet service
  • The district paid off the balance due on its last Certificate of Participation (COPS) funding and became completely debt free in 2008
